“Travel does what good novelists also do to the life of everyday, placing it like a picture in its frame or a gem in its setting, so that the intrinsic qualities are made more clear. Travel does this with the very stuff that everyday life is made of, giving to it the sharp contour and meaning of art.” –Freya Stark
People say that what we are all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think this is what we’re really seeking. I think what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive. Joseph Campbell
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller
As you journey through life, choose your destinations well, but do not hurry there. Avoid the shortcuts… wander the back roads… enjoy the scenery. And remember that the true worth of your travels lies not in the destination but in who you come to be along the way. Anon.
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page. Saint Augustine

Dear Marieke, Saturday was a great day. Robert and I enjoyed it very much and look back with fond memories on a kaleidscope of delicious tastes, wines, sunlight, leafiness and the clean clear air of the northeast. The Tea Rooms, along with Pietro et al, is a deeply impressive, gorgeous place. Thank you for getting it all together. Louise x

Kashmir is mysterious, gorgeous and intriguing with its tribes, its unique architecture, its lost-in-time markets, its astonishing Venetian-like waterways and spectacular landscapes framed by the Himalayas. Every traveller should experience this profound kingdom at least once in a lifetime. Anonymous

Your Tour Leader, Marieke Brugman Marieke has had an abiding love affair with India for over twenty years and lost count of how many groups she has led and how many curated journeys she has designed for private travellers and small groups. India is sometimes maddening, but always fascinating, surprising, soul-stirring. She has negotiated her way throughout the subcontinent, seeking out its many hidden gems – special spas and yoga retreats, exceptional craftspeople and artisans, ambient hotels with unique character, and by default discovered that many women, more than men, have a yearning to experience and delve into this country like no other. She looks forward to sharing her friends and some of her favourite destinations such as Ahilya and Devigarh. Just as she thought it unconscionable to collect another shawl, Marieke can’t help herself when faced with hand made objects of rare beauty.
